Q. What type and year of vehicles may
enter the rally?
A. The Rally is open
to cars, commercial vehicles, buses, fire appliances,
military vehicles, motorcycles and combinations made in
1959 or earlier.Q. My vehicle model was first built in
1959 but my vehicle is actually 1961, can it still be
entered?
A. Run-on model
vehicles will be accepted.
Q. Where
does the Rally start?
A. For most vehicles
the Rally will start at 9.00am from the Deaf Children
Australia (DCA), 597 St. Kilda Rd, at the corner of High
St. Enter from St Kilda Rd.
Q. Where
do vehicles assemble at St Kilda Rd on the day?
A. You will be
directed at the Start point by marshalls from a local car
club. Similar marshalling will be at the Frankston stop
and Cape Schanck to direct the display vehicles.
Q. Are
there other start points for Veteran and Vintage
vehicles?
A. Yes, Veteran and
Vintage vehicles may also start at 9.00am at the optional
starting point at the Frankston campus of Monash
University.
Q. Is
there additional parking space for service vehicles and
trailers?
A. The only additional
parking for service vehicles and trailers is at the
Monash University, Frankston site.
Q. Are
there are any support facilities for vehicles en route?
A. RACV will provide full road service for entrants
taking part in the run.
Q. Can
any vehicles enter the Cape Schanck Resort to view the
rally?
A. Spectator parking
is available in the resort and marshalls will direct
vehicles.
Q. Is
this a Club Permit Event?
A. For vehicles on
Club permit, the event is a Permitted Event.
Q. Do
I have to be a member of the RACV or an AOMC affiliated
Car Club to enter?
A. No. You do not have
to be a club member of either a car club or the RACV to
take part in this event.
Q. What
is the entrance fee?
A.
The entrance fee for those participating in the event is
$70 which includes a buffet meal for 2 people in the
resort and a commemorative badge. For entrants choosing
to bring their own picnic lunch (or purchase food from
the vendors on site), the entrance fee is $30 which
includes morning tea and a commemorative badge.
Q. What
refreshments and catering will be available during the
event?
A. Coffee/tea biscuits
will be available at the start points at DCA and
Frankston Monash University Campus. This is provided to
entrants as part of the event. A sit down lunch will be
provided to all entrants (paying the full fee) within the
RACV facility at the Cape Schanck resort. Catering will
be provided for spectators at the resort by vendors on
site.
Q. Are
there any prizes to be awarded?
A. Yes. Prizes will be
awarded in a number of categories for those vehicles
participating in the rally. Period costume is encouraged.
Q.
What is the Concours d' Elegance and does my $70 fee
cover entry of my vehicle in this event?
A. This inaugural Concours event is a separate
display of vehicles that may be either
participants in the City to Cape event or directly taken
to the resort. It is open to all vehicles of outstanding
quality built in or prior to 1984. The judging and prizes
will be separate from those of the rally vehicles and the
Concours vehicles will be displayed in a separate area.
Concours vehicles will be ineligible for the general
rally awards. The concours trophies will be commensurate
with the quality of this premier event. The concours
entrance fee is $300 and includes a commemorative badge
marking this unique occasion. There is a separate entry

Q. Is
there any overnight accommodation available?
A. Overnight
accommodation is available for entrants at Cape Schanck
and may be arranged through the Resort. (Tel. 5950 8000).
Q. What
is the exact route and where can I get further
information?
A. Route maps, start
details and all necessary information will be forwarded
to entrants in the weeks leading up to the event. More
information will also be available here on the AOMC web
pages.
Q. Where
can the public view the vehicles and the rally?
A. The public may view
the vehicles at the Start point in St Kilda Rd, enroute,
at the Monash University campus in Frankston and along
the beach front route from Dromana to Rosebud. The public
also are also invited to travel to the Cape Schanck
resort to view the vehicles at the finish. Spectator
admission at the resort will be by a gold coin donation
(children under 16 admitted free). There will be some
musical entertainment provided and there will be vendors
selling local produce and automobilia.
Q. Where
does my entrance fee go?
A. Funds raised by
this event will be donated to the Boneo CFA who will
provide marshalls at the destination.
